Hudson Valley Author Launches New Thriller In Rhinebeck

RHINEBECK N.Y. -- Award-winning author and Hudson Valley resident Carol Goodman will launch her latest psychological thriller, "River Road," at Oblong Books & Music in Rhinebeck on Tuesday, Jan. 19.

"River Road" is about a professor accused of killing her favorite student in a hit-and-run accident. The professor, who lost her daughter in an accident years earlier, begins to suspect that the two accidents are connected.

Goodman's previous novels for adults include: "The Sonnet Lover" (2007), "The Drowning Tree" (2004), as well as the award-winning "The Lake of Dead Languages" (2002) and "The Seduction of Water" (2003).

 She is also the author of a series of novels "The Demon Lover," "The Water Witch" and "The Angel Stone" written under the pseudonym of Juliet Dark. 

Goodman is also the author of the Blythewood series of novels for young adults. 

Goodman’s books have twice been nominated for the IMPAC award, the Simon & Schuster/Mary Higgins Clark award and the Nero Wolfe Award, and her novel "The Seduction of Water" won the Hammett Prize in 2003. Her short stories have appeared in The Greensboro Review, Literal Latte, Midwest Quarterly, New York Quarterly and Other Voices. 

She lives in the Hudson Valley and teaches creative writing at SUNY New Paltz.
